FAQ

Is Tallow good for sensitive skin and problematic skin?

Yes! Tallow is excellent for sensitive and problematic skin. Its natural fatty acids closely match your skin’s own oils, making it gentle, hypoallergenic, and deeply nourishing. Many people with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, chronic dryness, or irritation find that tallow helps calm redness, support the skin barrier, and reduce flaking. For extremely reactive skin, start with unscented tallow and patch‑test first. It’s also often well‑tolerated by acne‑prone skin, though some may experience a short purging phase as congestion clears.

Will tallow make me break out?

Most people don’t break out from tallow. If you notice tiny bumps at first, that’s usually skin purging. Your skin pushing out old congestion. It’s temporary and settles within a couple weeks. If you get new, painful breakouts in places you never break out, use less or switch to nighttime‑only.

Is tallow safe for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers?

Unscented tallow is generally considered gentle and safe for topical use. For scented versions, check essential oil safety guidelines.

Does tallow melt?

Tallow softens in heat but rarely becomes fully liquid. If your balm warms up, simply place it in a cool area and it will re‑solidify without losing quality.
